Title too wide for a search result

WarningMedium priority

Pages whose title is drawn wider than 580 pixels, or longer than 60 characters.

Why it matters

A search result cuts the title off at a width, not at a letter count, so the end of it — often the part that says what the page is — is never read.

How to fix it

Put what matters first and shorten the rest. Width is what decides: the same sixty characters fit or do not depending on which letters they are.

Skitter runs this check on every crawl, and lists each page it finds with the evidence: the header, the tag or the link that gave it away.
